Hello World!

Hello World! 😊Welcome to my crafting corner . My name is Liz and from the UK .This is the first blog I have ever created and this is where I'm going to post all my creative makes crafted from paper . I've had an interest in paper since I was a little girl but only just started really pursuing it since towards the end of 2017 as a hobby .

Growing up I have a memory of going to visit my Great Aunty Hilda's house (about the age of 5 years old) and she gave me some crepe paper to keep me occupied while my parents had a catch up and natter . While cutting up the paper I was shaping it into flowers and quite proud of them at the time. At that age I had no idea that beautiful realistic flowers could be made with this type of paper .. that was my first memory . Through the years growing up during my school years I always loved Art class although I never pursued that career path .. I did how ever do a year work experience as a trainee florist age 17 and I absolutely loved it . Unfortunately as the work experience youth training came to an end I had to get a different job .

Fast forward a few years I had a little more time on my hands and was able to find a hobby I enjoyed , was able to relax more and switch off from day to day work, eat, sleep, repeat routine ..still have times like that but now I try to make time for me . When I discovered my new hobby it all started with the adult colouring books mainly the Johanna Basford Inky treasure hunt colouring books . I don't tend to do these so much now as you will see when more posts go up on this page

Which then I started looking into different kind of crafting and came across some calming Origami Flowers, Butterflies and Kusadama (geometric sphere designs) books

A year or so later I purchased some paper flower making books with petal & leaves templates with tutorials from Amazon .Started dabbling in making the odd few paper flowers .. first with tissue paper, some crepe paper and then cardstock .. was quite tedious at times cutting them out by hand but still made some pretty flowers and loved displaying around the house .

During the time of 2017 while doing colouring books, Origami and flowers I Purchased a Sizzix big shot plus die-cutting/embossing machine for making greeting cards . I went crazy buying loads of card magazines, metal thin cutting dies and embossing folders for a few years . this is what started with my obsession with buying card and papers ,embellishments ..anything craft .. (another hobby in itself collecting supplies I may use or intend to at some point)

Up until the end of year 2021 I cut everything out by hand from origami strips to leaf & petal and my husband said why don't you get an electronic cutting machine .. now me being a technophobe I was daunted by using one and tbh I'd never even heard of a cutting machine before let alone and SVG or PDF file. Even my PC I taught myself everything I needed to know and winged the rest ,

Christmas 2021 arrived and hubby had got me a Cricut maker 3 with a few accessories , was really excited but oh my gosh ! what on earth and how am I going to use this !! . Took me a while to get my head around what this machine could do but once I realised the things I could make it then opened up a whole new way of crafting .
